William grew up on a farm in rural central Texas. At an early age he developed an interest in drawing. He first drew dinosaurs, then moved on to animals, then to western themes. When he was eleven years old he began taking painting lessons from Mrs. Gayle Lipps, a local art teacher. He continued with art classes though high school. William received an Associate's Degree in Drafting and Design and a Bachelor's Degree in Studio Art from the University of Texas. While at the university he began attending workshops at the Cowboy Artist Museum in Kerrville, Tx. William has benefitted from personal instruction of other artists including Debob Jacobs, Robert Pummill, Roy Anderson, Bruce Greene, Martin Grelle,Ron Riddick Jerald Derryberry, and John Budicin.
William is a member of the Outdoor Painter's Society, American Plains Artists, and the American Impressionist's Society. 

  At the 24th annual American Plains Artist Show this year William recieved 1 of several awards of Excellence.  There were a total of 260 entries to be juried initially and 91 were accepted into the show and judged by the juror, Richard Folger of Folger Gallery in Midland, Texas.
